When You Don’t Have It All: Running Edition

I ran cross country and track in high school and I always felt like everyone had better running stuff than me. More expensive watches, cuter clothes, fancier shoes.

Now that I am out of high school I see all these running influencers on Instagram with their expensive sets of shorts and sports bras, the best watches, multiple pairs of shoes, energy gels, and so on.

I just want to emphasize that you don’t have to have all the fanciest stuff to enjoy or be a good runner. A few cheap workout outfits, a pair of good shoes (I wear new balance), and a garmin forerunner is what I have.

So go ahead and get out of the comparison trap and just know that there’s always someone that has more.

Running isn’t about having fancy stuff, although it may be fun, and if that’s a part of running that you strive for and enjoy, good for you. But if you don’t have the fanciest stuff, it’s ok. Still get out there and go on some good runs and enjoy what you do have.
