    On Blogging

Hello and welcome back to Liveliness my amazing readers.

This post is about blogging. Fancy that. A blog post about blogging.

This post is for the three readers that will see this post. Hello, how are you? Go ahead and introduce yourself in the comments if you like.

Blogging is hard. Mostly because hardly anyone reads my blog. I don’t say that to guilt trip anyone, it’s just a fact. I thought that by now I would have at least a few subscribers, but I have one subscriber. And that one subscriber is me.

Sometimes I feel like I am speaking into the void, but I keep writing to have a creative outlet, for the off chance that I might connect with someone, and because it gives my days off of work some purpose. For example, writing this blog post will save me from at least twenty minutes of scrolling through YouTube shorts, although I do love them.

One of the best things about blogging though, is the free AI image generator built into the word press posting software. It has leveled up my game with post images. It summarizes what I have written in the post for me and creates a prompt to make an image that encapsulates what the blog post is about.

Anyways, if you want to help me on my blogging journey, let me know what I could do to improve my blog posts, I would appreciate the feedback. And let me know what kind of blog post you would like to read in the future.

    What I’ve been loving

I have a new Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Cleansing Oil that I have been liking. It has cleared my skin more than Cetaphil, Neutrogena, or CeraVe, so if those brands aren’t working for you I would suggest looking into Beauty of Joseon.

I also have this new gold twist ring that I have been loving. It is part of my everyday basic jewelry and goes with everything.

    Weekly Inspiration

For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

    Moses 1:39

God’s goal is for us to become immortal and have eternal life. He is good at his job. A reason that you can choose joy in this life is because you are looking forward to what is to come.

    ❤ Have a good week.

  • My Experience Doing Etsy POD

    My Experience Doing Etsy POD

Hello and welcome back to Liveliness. I hope you all are making it through your days.

Today I am going to be talking about my experience doing Etsy POD.

If you don’t know what that is it’s Etsy Print On Demand.

Basically you choose an online good, make a design for it, then sell that good with that design on it on your Etsy shop.

The print on demand software that I chose to use was Printify. It’s really easy to use with Etsy because you just link your shop to it, then you can choose your products and upload your designs onto them.

I used Canva Pro to make my designs along with clip art from Creative Fabrica.

I advertised my products on Instagram and Pinterest and used mockups from Etsy. I used Everbee and Erank for my SEO and keyword research.

I learned how to do all this with YouTube and Printify.

The great thing is that all of this is free to use unless you use a premium version of it.

The bad thing with the learning process is that there are many voices out there, all telling you different things. I could find YouTube videos telling me that I could succeed and make thousands of dollars doing Etsy POD, and others telling me that the time for Etsy POD was over and that I would only lose money. Furthermore, everyone seemed to be offering their own course on how to make it big with Etsy POD. There was always a different person with a different suggested way to do things. It was very confusing, overwhelming, and distressing.

The products I chose to design were mainly t-shirts, blankets, mugs, and sweatshirts.

I think in total I got 5 sales and made $35 in profit before I quit. And there’s a couple of reasons why I quit. First, it took a lot of time to research designs, create them, do SEO for them, and upload them. So in the long run it wasn’t worth it for me. Second, I didn’t enjoy spending all of that time at a computer. My world felt like it was reduced to one small screen and I didn’t like that. Third, I saw a lot of inappropriate things on Etsy when I was doing my design research, so much so that it made it not worth it to continue. Fourth, I was experiencing mental health challenges at the time that made it difficult to work. These last two reasons were the main reasons why I decided to quit Etsy POD.

As far as the inappropriate things, I saw swear words that I wasn’t comfortable with, inappropriate jokes, and very immodest clothing. I had thought that as a small handmade business platform, Etsy would emphasize more family-friendly styles, but that just was not the case. And suffice it to say that I was a little disappointed with it.

On the lighter side, doing Etsy POD taught me certain business skills that I am glad I have now. It taught me how to use Canva, and I can now use it for various gifts and logos. It also taught me that business ventures are a lot more work than they seem like they will be. Furthermore, it taught me that I don’t like the finance aspect of business very much. I hated keeping track of my expenses in a spread sheet and trying to budget. It was monotonous for me.

In conclusion, some people may make tons of money doing Etsy POD, but I found out that it was not for me, and that’s ok. I think that the lessons that I learned from it were worth it. I don’t think it’s my job to either recommend or not recommend Etsy POD because everyone has their own experience. But I would encourage you to take my experience as a lesson to you on your own path of figuring out Etsy POD.

Good luck out there, and I will see you all next week with another blog post. ❤

  • When You Don’t Have It All: Running Edition

When You Don’t Have It All: Running Edition

I ran cross country and track in high school and I always felt like everyone had better running stuff than me. More expensive watches, cuter clothes, fancier shoes.

Now that I am out of high school I see all these running influencers on Instagram with their expensive sets of shorts and sports bras, the best watches, multiple pairs of shoes, energy gels, and so on.

I just want to emphasize that you don’t have to have all the fanciest stuff to enjoy or be a good runner. A few cheap workout outfits, a pair of good shoes (I wear new balance), and a garmin forerunner is what I have.

So go ahead and get out of the comparison trap and just know that there’s always someone that has more.

Running isn’t about having fancy stuff, although it may be fun, and if that’s a part of running that you strive for and enjoy, good for you. But if you don’t have the fanciest stuff, it’s ok. Still get out there and go on some good runs and enjoy what you do have.

    — ENJOY WHAT YOU DO HAVE —

  • Finding Balance In Your Life

    Finding Balance In Your Life

Hello, and welcome back to Liveliness.

Today I want to talk about finding balance in your life.

    It’s hard to find balance.

In fact, I think that it takes a constant daily effort.

You can do pretty much anything too much or too little. And what is too much or too little looks different for everybody everyday.

But don’t worry, it’s definitely possible.

Take scripture study for example. I choose to read just a few verses a day and that suffices for me and my schedule. I used to make myself read a chapter but I felt like I would lose touch with the spirit and be focused instead on the length.

So for me I was reading too much and needed to tone it down to get the benefits I wanted from it.

But, most days, reading just one verse feels too short for me. So by reading a few to several verses I found that balance.

Another example of this is with food. I go through phases where I eat a little too much food and gain a little weight and where I eat a little too little food and lose a little weight. I think that this is a normal part of eating food, but it demonstrates the daily effort that it takes to maintain a balance. It’s a lot of little adjustments of a little more than before or a little less than before until you have inevitably slipped up and tipped the scales and have to restart.

Another way to describe balance I think is a daily changing to be a little bit better than you were before, or a correcting of mistakes. In the LDS religion we also call this repentance.

I think finding balance is a beautiful daily struggle that is part of the purpose of life.

I wish you all luck in finding balance in your daily lives and believe that you will find joy through it.

Feel free to share any struggles that you’ve had finding balance in your own life and what you have learned.

  • What I Eat In a Day

What I Eat In a Day

Good day everyone and welcome back to Liveliness.

This is where I share a little bit of my world with all of you lovely people. Today’s post is What I Eat In a Day.

Today I just have work so I start off the day at 7:00 am.

Starting with breakfast I ate overnight oats.

They’re delicious and healthy. This is a recipe that I found on the internet by searching overnight oats. It’s just quick oats, milk, yogurt, honey, and chia seeds. I don’t use measurements, but I just do whatever looks right. I put them in this mason jar which makes it a little more fun.

In the morning I added cocoa powder and peanut butter to make it chocolate peanut butter oatmeal.

I highly recommend this addition as the flavors take it to the next level.

Next, I take my lunch to work with me so it all has to be portable and we don’t have a microwave or kitchen so it’s usually a sandwich.

Today the sandwich is peanut butter and honey which is my favorite. The gooeyness of peanut butter and the sweetness of honey mixed together makes it perfect.

Then I added some crackers, cherry tomatoes, and fruit snacks.

Side note: I only ate half the crackers.

Next, when I was finally home from work it’s time for dinner and I had this delicious Korean Beef Bowl.

Then I put a Sriracha Mayo sauce on it.

This dinner is delicious and it is made with rice, ground beef, and cucumbers and shredded carrots along with a bunch of seasonings and sauces that I won’t get into here.

The crunchiness of the vegetables along with the tanginess and spiciness of the sauces is amazing. Suffice it to say that I ate it very fast.

After that I had this fruit bowl.

It was just the leftovers that my aunt had brought.

And my mom had made some lemon poppyseed bread so I had some of that as well.

A couple hours after dinner as a sweet treat I had chocolate chips to reward myself for doing a task that I don’t enjoy doing.

And of course I had to have some chocolate milk with it to satisfy those sugar cravings.

And that’s what I ate in a day. This is the kind of food I typically have everyday. Especially the oatmeal and peanut butter and honey sandwich.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed seeing what I eat in a day and maybe got some inspiration for what you want to eat.

If you have any questions feel free to comment them, or email me. My email can be found in the about section of my blog.

I heard something today at church that I wanted to share on here.

Someone said that the fact that the sun was shining this morning is proof that God loves you because he made this earth for you.

    Think about that.

A loving father in heaven made this beautiful earth for YOU.

All the beautiful mountains and valleys. The oceans and lakes. Rivers and trees. Grass and sky. Stars and moon.

    And he does love you.

Enough to have his son feel all your pains just so you wouldn’t have to go through them alone.

And enough to make a way for you to come back to him and live in happiness forever.

That is what a loving father in heaven did for you.

    Happy Sunday. ❤️

  • Battle of the Deodorants

Aluminum vs Aluminum Free vs Natural vs Clinical Strength

I’ll be honest, I’m a pretty sweaty person. And smell, up until several months ago when I found my winning deodorant, was a problem for me. In the past, despite showering everyday and putting on copious amounts of deodorant, I still would end up smelling bad by the end of the day. This usually only happened on school days, or times that I spent outside my house, because I tended to get nervous around people which caused my sweat glands to secrete nervous sweat which smells bad.

I was so embarrassed by this and I would try to wear jackets to cover up the smell to no avail. Sometimes they even made it worse because they made me hot which caused me to sweat more. I hated lifting my arms to do anything because it would release a whiff of BO and I would cringe inwardly while feeling ashamed because people around me could probably smell it.

Those were the days that I was wearing a normal aluminum deodorant which clearly didn’t work for me. I bounced around a few popular brands, never really feeling satisfied with the results. I even tried men’s deodorant which I thought would work because it had to be stronger, right? Wrong. It worked just as poorly for me as the women’s deodorants.

A couple years after those situations I was taking time off of school because of a brain injury that I had. If you want to learn more about it check out my previous two posts! And one of my doctors had me switch to a natural deodorant because he told me that aluminum deodorant was super bad for you, and could even leave calcium deposits in your brain.

Today I googled this and google said that aluminum deodorant doesn’t cause calcium deposits in your brain. But at the time I believed him and got rid of my aluminum deodorant as quickly as possible and switched to a natural one.

Now, the natural deodorant mostly worked for me since I wasn’t spending as much time around people or nervous sweating. But, when I did spend time around people, usually at church, I ended the time with a bit of a bad smell. I thought this was ridiculous because it wasn’t even a whole day, it was only a couple of hours and the deodorant couldn’t have my back for even that long.

Later, I tried a different natural deodorant brand which I liked the smell of better, but it was the same story with me ending up a little smelly after a couple of hours around people.

I wasn’t satisfied with this outcome and decided that natural deodorants weren’t it for me. But, unfortunately, I was still scared of aluminum and hadn’t yet discovered that it wasn’t as bad for you as my doctor had said. So I switched to an aluminum-free deodorant by Secret that I hoped would be a little more powerful than a natural deodorant.

This deodorant worked for a little while, even when I was working long days in a physically demanding job. I ended the eight to ten hour days with little to no bad smell that I did not think was very irritating or noticeable to others.

This was all good and fine until I started wearing closer fitting clothing that ended up catching the sweat and holding it against my skin for longer instead of letting it evaporate which caused there to be more of a bad smell on me.

I was discouraged because the aluminum-free deodorant that I had been satisfied with had at last let me down. It reminded me of the times a couple of years ago when I had felt shame and embarrassment from my body odor. This is when I considered finally going to the doctor for a prescription strength deodorant.

Before I had a chance to do this though, I heard an ad on YouTube for Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant that was available in stores. As soon as I could I raced over to my local Walmart and found my favorite scent out of the options–which is now one of my favorite scents of all time–and started wearing it. This deodorant had aluminum in it, but I was determined to smell good and leave the embarrassment of the past behind, so I decided to wear it anyways, at first as little as possible, but now I put it on once a day or more.

This deodorant has Aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex GLY in it which is found in some prescription strength deodorants, and is an antiperspirant as well. This powerful deodorant has been the deodorant of my dreams and has 9.9 times out of 10 left me smelling fresh and good. Finally, the battle of the deodorants had found a winner!

No more days spent worrying that I smelled bad, and no more people that didn’t want to sit next to me because of the smell!

The one downside to this deodorant is that I got a mild rash from it for a couple days, but it went away pretty quickly and I didn’t have to stop using it.

I had also gotten over my fear of aluminum, figuring that even if I ended up with calcium deposits in my brain, at least I would have friends and be spared much heart-ache and embarrassment. Luckily, with writing this post and researching deodorant I have found out that very little aluminum from deodorant is absorbed into your skin, and what is is filtered out by your liver. Pro tip: do your research when doctors that you don’t completely trust give you advice.

The only times when I smelled bad despite wearing this deodorant were on a date that I was very nervous for and a bridal shower that I shaved my armpits for before which shaved off the deodorant. I did apply more after that in the morning, but it is meant to be applied at night which can account for the lessened performance.

Battle of the Deodorants winner: Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant!

    My favorite scent: Stress Response.

The embarrassment and shame of days of old is gone and now I feel more confident and assured knowing that I smell good!

I wish you all luck on your own journeys of conquering personal battles! I hope this post helped someone that may also be trying to find a deodorant that works! But, whether it be deodorant or something else, I hope you find what you are looking for and grow in ways you never thought possible!

    Much love. <3.
